Pongal is one of the most important festivals of the year in Tamil Nadu. It is the celebration of harvest and renewal. Vellai Thamarai celebrated Pongal with the ritual of boiled rice in milk and sugar cane. Some games were organised and young girls from 9th standard had bouhgt a sari for the occasion and wore it for the first time.
