Vellai Thamarai France had the pleasure to celebrate on March 8th 2025 the release of the book “A few steps in Ajit Sarkar’s life”, “Quelques pas dans la vie d’Ajit Sarkar”.

This publication was based and carried out on Regine Riefolo’s idea and edited by Brigitte Bonzel, FRAG edition.

“Ajit and Selvi are stars who have created, by their teaching and generosity, links among thousands of people around the world.

When Ajit left to walk other paths of light, on March 2021, we would have liked to comfort his family on that difficult moment: Selvi his spouse, Mihir his son, Sharmila his daughter in law, Anjali and Anisha his grandchildren and Namita his sister. To ease the moment by sharing memories.

I suggested to gather in this book testimonies and stories of Ajit’s life, stories that we could not share live in the troubled pandemic time.

Everything has its place in this book of memories and tributes, from the smallest to the most extraordinary, texts, pictures…Little brilliant stones on paths travelled together…”

At the Board meeting of June 18, 2024, Catherine DOUPEUX was unanimously elected President of Vellai Thamarai France.

Catherine joined the Vellai Thamarai France operational team in 2018, then served as Vice-President during Patrick Demartial’s two-year term until June 2024.

She is steeped in Ajit Sarkar’s educational philosophy and deeply committed to passing it on.
She is eager to carry on the school’s continuous improvement drive, in a spirit of collegiality and fluid communication.

During its General Meeting of June 2nd 2024, Vellai Thamarai France launched the « School Bus » project.

Why?
We have noticed the regular decrease of the School population.
One of the main reason being the distance between the School and some of the further villages, parents unable to bring the children to School. Therefore children coming from.over 4 kilometers were unfairly disadvantaged to attend School.

The solution?
The purchase of a 30 seats school bus equipped with security cameras and emergency door , for children coming from over 4 kilometers to travel safely to School.

The cost?
27 600 €

How to participate in « School Bus » project?
It is very simple!

You can participate until December 31st 2024:

– by making a  bank transfer, adding the reference « School Bus », your names and postal address in your instructions, using this RIB,

– by sending a check to Vellai Thamarai France, 20 rue Deparcieux 75014 Paris.
Check order : Vellai Thamarai France.
Please add a note to the check mentioning « School Bus », stating your names and postal address.  

A tax receipt will be sent for all donations above 30 €

The beginning of 2024 has seen nice improvements and transformations at the School!

Saturday January 27th – Opening of the Playground
The playground is intended for children 3 to 6 years old. Since the opening, they enjoy it daily with much enthusiasm.

Wednesday February 14th – Opening of Laboratories

Long awaited, the 4 laboratories of physics, chemistry, biology and computer science offer a modern environment for science education. They enhance the image and the attractivensess of the School.

These two important investments have been financed by Vellai Thamarai’s own funds, consisting of  memberships and donations, and the proceeds of internships organised by Vellai Thamarai.

During the last three months, a great surge of solidarity animated yoga teachers trained by Ajit Sarkar.

Many yoga workshops were organised in October, November and December in France by former Ajit Sarkar’s students, for the benefit of Vellai Thamarai.

« Yoga Mosaïque » in Saint-Pol-de-Léon,
« Dhyanasana Yoga » in Ploemeur,
« Art et Yoga » in Paris,

have organised sucessfull yoga workshops.

Ajit’s project, as he wished, continues to live thanks to these great initiatives.

Yoga teachers thus demonstrate their loyalty to Ajit’s motto: “La vie est un yoga”.

Two beautiful Indian dance performances were organised by former students of Selvi Sarkar, for the benefit of Vellai Thamarai.

In October, in Rennes, Mîrâ-baï association presented a show of Bharata Natyam and Indian folkloric dances.

In November, Cambes-en-Plaine Yoga association, presided by Dominique Lohy, celebrated the Divali festival (Celebration of Light). Eloïse and  her students performed traditional dances, with creative choreographies for some of them.

The General Assembly of Vellai Thamarai France was held on May 13th 2023 at the Forum 104 in Paris. It was conducted by Selvi Sarkar Honorary President, Marie-Hélène Demey former President of Vellai Thamarai France, Patrick Demartail new President of Vellai Thamarai France and Ananda Vadivelou new President of Vellai Thamarai India.

The activity report and balance sheets of the Association were presented by the different speakers. The report, in french, of the Assembly is available on demand by mail at evenementsvtf@gmail.com

For the first time a former student shared his experience at the Vellai Thamarai School, in live broadcast.

The next General Assembly will be held in June 2024.

At the General Assembly of May 13th 2023, Vellai Thamarai France launched the release of the book ”Le Yoga selon Ajit Sarkar, Manuel de pratique” (in French). This much expected publication meets the wishes of many students and teachers.

Apart the transmission of his yoga teaching, the work gathers very precious and valuable insights on the exceptional human being that was Ajit Sarkar.
For those who had the chance to know him, one finds through the pages his simplicity, his depth and his wisdom.

The publication was financed by La Federation Yoga Ayurveda (FYA).
The sale price is 25 € , for the benefit of Vellai Thamarai School.
